This song started out as a jam between Miles and Jacob from the morning after a M@M show. They both felt the urge to get heavy and weird for a new song and they started jamming on what would later become Beach Zombie. Jacob came up with some surfy chords and Miles came up with some wild and intense drums. There was one element that was different for them this time; they both opted to make the song as dancy yet intense as possible. After an hour of jamming and one crazy time-changing breakdown later, they had a rough demo of the instrumentals for the song.
Ben and John thought the song was awesome and the four Monday boys got to work filling out the sound, writing the lyrics, and recording to capture their lightning in a bottle. Recording happened over the course of a week in Jacob's room and many nights were spent munching on Trader Joe's Takis and slurping on Gatorade. Screaming about planes going down in a makeshift closet vocal booth, messing with delay pedals to get neat sounds, and even setting up a microphone in a bathroom were not only all elements that made for a great song, but also serve as core memories that strengthen the band's bond as friends.
We think we captured the lightning in a bottle that we felt when we first wrote the song. We sincerely hope that you enjoy our spooky tune and that it gives you the same burst of energy it does for us.

LYRICS:
She comes around in flaming color
The engine’s failing her again
She built her runway made with thunder
And she’s falling without end
Lose control when you know I’m gone
Crashing down won’t take too long
Lose your calm then you can’t land
And now you’re tethered to the sand,
Now you’re a beach zombie!
You feel it falter in your stomach
But you haven’t got a clue
Walking when I should be running
But you’re taking me down with you
Lose control when you know I’m gone
Crashing down won’t take too long
Lose your calm then you can’t land
And now you’re tethered to the sand,
Now you’re a beach zombie!
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking and I have some troubling news. It appears we’ve lost an engine! Stay in your seats! We lost the other engine! Hold tight, we’re going down! I repeat, WE'RE GOING DOWWWNNNNNN!
Lose control when you know I’m gone (I don’t fuck with you)
Crashing down won’t take too long (I haven’t got a clue)
Lose your calm then you can’t land (And what am I to do)
And now you’re tethered to the sand,
NOW YOU'RE A BEACH ZOMBIE!
